One day after the longest COP in history ended, Climate Tracker’s Ignacio Amigo was invited to participate in an event in Madrid organized by the Platform for a New Energetic Model.
During the first part of the event, Ignacio introduced Climate Tracker and summarized the main outcomes and failures of COP25. As expected, most of the attention went to the details of Article 6, which holds the possibility of favoring a smooth energy transition or entirely breaking the Paris Agreement.
After Ignacio, Lucía Bárcena, from NGO Ecologistas en Acción, discussed the problems of the Energy Charter Treaty, an international agreement that is often used by fossil fuels companies to prevent governments from promoting renewable energies.
Here’s the video of the event (in Spanish). Unfortunately, there was a sound problem during the first minutes, but was solved later.
