2020 has been a year of transformation at Climate Tracker.
In the next 12 months, we’ll be building on a new digital focus, with a stronger focus on developing deeper networks in key geographies. This is especially the case in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Southern and Northern Africa.
We are also excited to engage in new publishing platforms, while seeking to streamline our focus and impact. For these reasons, we are looking to bring on a new Co-Director, to work alongside Chris Wright, our Managing Director and co-lead this transition.
If you’d love to be part of a cool dynamic team and connect with inspiring young people around the world, you have until October 20th to apply!
The role will include all the elements you might imagine in a leadership role of a small-to-medium sized organisation. This includes:
- Developing organisational strategies and reviews on a monthly basis
- Engaging current and new partners
- Working with our team of managers to improve our internal organisational practices, strategies and objectives
- Developing training and project plans to support our training programs
- Working directly with young journalists and media analysts around the world.
- Ensuring that Climate Tracker is consistently improving as a place to work
- Developing new ideas to measure and create impact in our work.
With the eventual goal by mid-2021 to:
Build Climate Tracker into one of the leading networks and organisations to support powerful climate journalism around the world.
Help create a powerful and supportive workplace that embraces diversity, and creates a clear sense of meaning across our team.
Help revolutionise how we create and measure impact in our journalism and work.
Help build Climate Tracker’s networks in a way that has comfortably ensured our ongoing financial security and operations throughout 2021.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The role will be hands-on and we are looking for someone who is equally inspired by the chance to develop new ideas as someone who is willing to dive in and fix old mistakes. We’re not a perfect organisation, and we’re always open to improving. But if we’re going to improve, we need someone willing to lead by example and bring others with them.
Ideally, we’d love someone with experience as a journalist or an editor. As well as someone with experience managing projects or teams. The role will definitely involve quite a bit of fundraising and network building, so experience in this is also a plus, but it is also something that will be taught on-the-job.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a passion for great climate journalism. That’s what we’re aiming to do at the end of the day – curate great climate storytellers, and support great climate reporting.
At the end of the day though, almost no-one has all this experience, so don’t be worried if you don’t tick all these boxes. This is meant to be a guide, and if you’re still reading this much, and not too worried, we’d love you to apply.
