The 5th Asia Pacific Adaptation Forum began today in Colombo, Sri Lanka with a traditional oil lighting ceremony.

Welcome remarks followed. Udaya Ranjith Sevenirathne (Secretary of Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Sri Lanka), Masataka Watanabe (Co-chair of Asia Pacific Adaptation Network), H.E. Anuradha Lanka Jayarathne (Deputy Minister of Mahaweli Developmeny and Environment, Sri Lanka), and H.E. Susil Premajayantha (Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Sri Lanka).

A High Level Panel Discussion on “Why the focus on ‘Living Under 2C?'” and a plenary session on Adaptation Planning followed the opening ceremonies.

Lisa Schipper, Adaptation, Vulnerability, and Development consultant for Vietnam raised and asked important points and questions about adaptation:
